In collaboration with Cultura Inquieta, MARE SEA REEL celebrates the beauty, energy and ecological richness of the Balearic Sea, and also invites participation with stories filmed in the Mediterranean.
Why participate?
We don’t know exactly what drives you — but maybe…
you’re a natural storyteller looking for a meaningful platform, or you’re a sea lover who feels most alive by the water and wants to share that joy, or you care deeply about the Balearic Islands and want to express your commitment to their future.
Whatever your reason, your participation can make a real difference:

Your reels can inspire others to engage, create, and care.
Your reels help shine a light on the urgent work being done to protect the Balearic Sea and Mediterranean.
And yes, there are prizes!
In 2026, we will award 3,000 € across 6 prizes: 5 jury awards for reels filmed in the Balearic Sea and in the Mediterranean, and a public choice award for the reel with the most likes on Instagram.
The winning reels will also have the opportunity to be screened at film festivals in the Balearic Islands.

Instagram Reels Competition for the Balearic Sea
Connect with the magic of the Balearic and Mediterranean sea, their climate and extraordinary biodiversity. And with environmental responsibility, share your vision through powerful reels.
Who can enter
The competition is free to enter and open to everyone.
We also want to hear young people’s perspective.
If you are under 18, you can take part with parental consent. And if you are under 16, please do it with an adult.
How to enter
You can submit up to 3 reels.
Create a reel
- Duration: 30 - 60 seconds
- Format (9:16)
- Original footage (no stock or AI-generated videos)
- Optional: add music, voiceover, text overlay
- Language (optional): Spanish, Catalan, or English
Post it to Instagram
- Follow @marebalear and @culturainquieta
- Use the hashtag #BeReelForTheSea26
- Tag @marebalear and @culturainquieta in the video caption and mention them in the text
- Make your Instagram account public until the results are announced
- If you submit a previously published reel, you must publish it again between 1 July and 1 September 2026. Editing an old reel to add the hashtag will not be accepted
Fill out the entry form
Make sure to include your contact details, your Instagram username, the category, the title and the link to the reel.
You can submit up to 3 reels. Just make sure to fill out one entry form for each reel you submit.
Reels should include
- A visual story or creative scene related to the Balearic or Mediterranean Sea, including marine life and biodiversity, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.
- A caption or short description (in Spanish, Catalan, or English) explaining your message - personal and emotional tones are encouraged.
- Optional: Creative sound design or voiceover.

MARE SEA REEL Jury
Enrique Talledo
Kike is an underwater documentary filmmaker, cameraman and photographer specialising in marine outreach and conservation, with more than 100 international awards in underwater photography and video.
He is an Oceanogràfic Ambassador 2026, received the Career Achievement Award at the San Sebastián International Underwater Film Festival in 2024, the Arona SOS Atlántico Award in 2022 and the Ciencia en Acción Award in 2020, among others.
His work combines art, science and environmental awareness, highlighting the richness and biodiversity of the oceans through initiatives such as Secretos del Océano and Cantábrico Salvaje.
Abbey C. Díaz
Abbey is an environmental educator and communicator specialising in wildlife, plants and conservation. She combines scientific rigour with humour and visual storytelling to bring nature closer to thousands of people through social media, talks and educational projects.
Through her work, she aims to show that understanding the natural world does not have to be complicated, and that everyday biodiversity is full of fascinating stories if we learn to look at it closely.
Juan Yuste
Juan is founder and CEO of Cultura Inquieta, a leading Spanish platform for creativity and cultural innovation. He promotes emerging talent and powerful visual storytelling through music, art, and social content, fostering a community that celebrates curiosity, diversity, and bold ideas with impact.
Reel submission rules
- You may submit up to 3 reels.
- Reels must use original footage — AI-generated or stock content is not allowed.
- Format must be vertical (9:16), HD quality, and 30–60 seconds long.
Rights & copyright
- You confirm you are the author and copyright holder of all material.
- If your reel wins an award, you grant Marilles Foundation, MARE and Cultura Inquieta free, non-exclusive permission to use it, always with attribution, in exhibitions, social media, festivals, publications, reports and communication activities related to the competition.
- You remain the author and may continue using your reels freely.
Responsibility
You are responsible for the content you share, including music, images, brands, logos and the people who appear in it. If identifiable people appear, you must have their consent. Avoid any content that may infringe third-party rights or depict harmful behaviour towards the marine environment.
Data protection
Personal data collected through the registration form will only be used to manage the competition and contact participants in relation to MARE SEA REEL, in accordance with current data protection regulations. Your data will not be shared with third parties, except where required by law or with your express consent.
